Sun Prints – A Great Easy Cheap Craft Project
- Construction paper (darker paper works best)
- Random objects of different shapes and sizes
- The sun
Lay your construction paper down in a sunny location. Place your random objects on top. Wait 1+ hours and then remove the objects. The sun will have faded the construction paper surrounding your objects leaving a spectacular design underneath. The longer the construction paper sits in the sun the more contrasting your artwork will be. We left ours out in the sun for 4 hours.
This activity also acts as a great opportunity to teach children of the many other simple uses of the sun. Not only does it have the power to fade construction paper to create cool crafts, but it also works as a great cleaner. The sun is great at lightening/bleaching out laundry stains AND it’s ultra violet rays have anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. Definitely a greener alternative to some of the commercial stain removers out there!
